SEMINAR

When children listen, they teach you a lesson: don’t write for them, don’t try and fool them

How can radio fiction allow us to tackle difficult subjects through artistic and imaginary transcendence? How do we create sound content for young audiences today without writing for children? How can the association of words, sounds and music, and the participation of the author and composer in all stages of production, make radio fiction a global work? How can digital editing and music composition tools modernize the craft of fiction writing, with and for young people? And last but not least, how did the Collectif Wow!’s organization become an affordable production model?

These are the many questions Sébastien Schmitz and Florent Barat will try to answer, by offering listenings and behind-the-scenes glimpses of the Collectif Wow!’s work with younger audiences.

Le Collectif Wow! is a tribe, a band, a group of artists exploring different media. Radio and sound creation, theatre, writing and music allow them to look at the world, question it and share it.

Le Collectif Wow! leads hybrid projects in which the exploration of radio and sound language (in the studio, on stage, on the street) is its privileged ground. Their works include the Beaux Jeunes Monstres series (Prix Europa 2016 for best fiction series), Dans La Boue Et l’Acier – ou la colère du cerf (Grand Prix Nova 2022), and the live radio show Piletta Remix, which they have staged for more than 700 dates in France, Belgium and Switzerland since 2016.

Le Collectif Wow! is Amélie Lemonnier, Émilie Praneuf, Florent Barat, Michel Bystranowski and Sébastien Schmitz.
