Io ero il Milanese

Io ero il milanese (I was the Milanese) recounts the life of a man who has made many poor choices, a man struck by misfortune, who has hit bottom but risen back up. It is a story of how you should never give up hope nor trust, and above all how you should always give people another chance.

Besides being one of the most successful podcasts of 2022, Io ero il Milanese is now a live show.

“I met Lorenzo S. in the summer of 2017. He had been out of prison for about ten days. During our first meeting, which lasted a few hours, he told me his whole life story in a nutshell, from when he had first entered prison to visit his father, to when he had come out as a new man at 40, in that July 2017. He told me about his first robbery when he was 14 years old and the resulting conviction, and how, from 14 to 37, his life had been all about crime, in and out of prison. How during his last imprisonment, he decided to embark on a path of change’.

Mauro Pescio is a radio and theatre writer living in Rome. Since 2012 he has been collecting people’s true stories for radio and the stage, and working as a radio author at Radio 24, Radio2 and Radio3. For Audible, he wrote the podcast La Piena with Matteo Caccia in 2018. For RAI Radio3, he wrote and produced Genova per tutti with Daria Corrias, a podcast marking the 20th anniversary of the G8. For Chora, he directed Un uomo chiamato Diabolik, written with Giovanni Bianconi.

Io ero il Milanese is his latest podcast, released in spring 2022 by RaiPlay Sound.

Lucia regulars will remember him on stage at Manifattura Tabacchi in 2019 with the story show Mio cugino
