Practical INFO
Everything you need to know to enjoy LUCIA.
Are you on your way to Florence? Are you coming to LUCIA?
Here is a memo for you, to better enjoy the festival and the city.
HOW TO GET HERE
LUCIA 2022 is hosted by CANGO Cantieri Culturali Goldonetta, in Via Santa Maria 25. The venue is in the Oltrarno district.
We recommend walking: from the Firenze S.M.N railway station it is about a 20-minute walk. By bus, also from the station, take the 11 and the C4. Taxis are available by calling 055 4242 or 055 4390. For those arriving by car, the nearest car park is the Oltrarno car park (for a fee), with entrance from Piazza della Calza. Just outside Porta Romana is a small car park (for a fee) and along Viale Petrarca, there are parking spaces painted blue (i.e. you pay!). For those who prefer cycling, Florence is well served by ridemovi, just download the APP: plenty of bikes, including electric ones, are available.
ONCE IN CANGO…
Founded in 2003, CANGO is a centre for research, transmission, residencies and vision dedicated to the performing arts. We are delighted that LUCIA is included in La democrazia del corpo, the winter program curated by Compagnia Virgilio Sieni.
The festival venue is accessible to people with reduced mobility and wheelchair users.
All the events of LUCIA festival are free.
The use of a mask is strongly recommended, let’s all take care of the most fragile and vulnerable people!
APPOINTMENTS BY APPOINTMENT
Bambini all’ascolto, Io ero il Milanese, Loss, rain and listening as an act of intimacy, La grotta del sonno and SANTINI are events you are asked to register for.
BAMBINI ALL’ASCOLTO | KIDS LISTENING
The seminar will be in Italian and English: simultaneous translation is available to all. Bring your phone and headphones to listen!
IO ERO IL MILANESE
Mauro Pescio’s live show is sold out, but if you still want to try out, write us an e-mail to lucia@radiopapesse.org to be included in the waiting list. Bookings close on 7 December, we will write to you if any last-minute seats become available.
THE SLEEP CAVE
The planetary gong bath conducted by Maria Pecchioli and Daniele Giannetti is sold out, the same rule applies as for the waiting list above. We recommend that you bring a pillow, a blanket or a mat to be more comfy during the session.
SANTINI. HELP WHEN NEEDED
This is the community event we are waiting for with the greatest curiosity. We don’t really like elevator pitches – they make us anxious – and we believe in the wisdom of the group, in sharing with one’s peers. If you don’t know how to turn a story around, if you have a problem structuring a new series, if you have a topic but few clear ideas, if you have everything but lack cold, hard cash, SANTINI is your chance to talk to and with a pantheon of colleagues who have probably walked through the same swamps.
Book your seat, come and tell us your struggles. For those who register by 7 December, we will also provide a hot meal to eat all together at the end of the meeting.
IN TOWN
Remember that LUCIA falls right in the middle of the feast of the Immaculate Conception. Pre-Christmas hordes are expected and we suggest, unless you like crowds, gravitating away from the more commercial streets downtown [with the exception of Via dei Fossi, where we recommend our favorite bookshop: Todo Modo!] In Oltrarno, between Piazza Santo Spirito, Piazza del Carmine and the San Frediano area, there are bars and restaurants where you can take a break, eat, meet. But remember: if you haven’t already done so, at least make a reservation for dinner!
